Job Description for I-Corps Recruiter
Overview
The purpose of this job is to recruit for and support UARF’s I-Corps program for innovators and entrepreneurs. I-Corps is all about customer discovery! I-Corps supports teams of faculty, students, and community entrepreneurs through an intensive 7-meeting critical evaluation to answer important questions about their business, product or technology idea through coaching and direct customer interactions. This position reports to UARF’s Executive Director.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Recruit a minimum number of I-Corps teams per year - starting with 70 in 2024 and increasing by 15% per year
- In collaboration with another I-Corps Recruiter, recruit at least 1 team per year from each of the 14 state universities plus Case and Dayton
- Run or coordinate 12 events per year (e.g. brown bag lunches, info sessions, short courses developed by the Great Lakes Hub, or networking events with guest speakers), including at least 1 per year on each university campus you are leading recruiting for
- Complete regional I-Corps instructor training, so that you are qualified to teach I-Corps
- Recruit 2 people from Ohio universities other than UA, University of Toledo or Ohio State University to complete Phase 1 I-Corps instructor training each year
- Teach in 2 regional I-Corps cohorts per year or mentor in a comparable number of National I-Corps cohorts
- Recruit 14% of qualifying regional I-Corps graduates to participate in the National I-Corps program and assist them with the application process using standard forms
- Develop written procedures for I-Corps recruiting activities and keep them up to date
Skills & Competencies
- Received or are working towards at least a Bachelor’s degree
- Have completed regional I-Corps program and ideally a National I-Corps program
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience or willingness to learn to use customer relationship management software
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Willing to learn on the job
Compensation
- Independent contractor role
- Ability to set your own hours and work remotely
- Expected time commitment of about 20 hours/week
- $2,900 monthly payment ($35,000 per year) as metrics are hit
