UARF offers a range of programs, services and events for startups with a focus on Northeast Ohio technology-based companies in the imagining, incubating and demonstrating stages. Each year, UARF provides more than 4,000 hours of direct startup support, including advice and mentorship, tactical support services, and connection to other entrepreneurial services providers.
UARF provides opportunities for students to engage with entrepreneurs, innovators and the investment process, leading to meaningful learning opportunities that build resumes and move far beyond the classroom. UARF works with hundreds of students each year, including students from University of Akron and other Northeast Ohio universities.
UARF supports faculty innovators as they work to bring new technologies to market. By directly assisting 90 faculty I-Corps participants and 20 startups founded by university faculty, UARF has developed a keen understanding of how to tackle the challenges facing faculty innovators and entrepreneurs.
UARF manages The University of Akron's portfolio of more than 400 active issued, pending and provisional patents. It also actively seeks to facilitate collaboration between UA labs and industry partners.
